Shortly before 10:15 a.m. on Dec. 23, a DC Fire and EMS spokesperson issued an alert advising of a collapse of a two-story row house with entrapment in the 1100 block of V Street NW.

As of noon on Monday afternoon, the worker was still trapped inside, according to the agency.

"(We are) proceeding with extreme caution due to (the) precarious condition of (the) structure," officials said, noting that an adjacent row home may also be compromised.

Shortly before 3 p.m. on Monday afternoon, they confirmed that the worker has died.

This is a developing story.
